Prevent emission

Unnecessary emissions could possibly cause damage to the stored objects. In museum storage the use of emission free materials is preferred.

Emission free storage

  • Steel front covers and doors.
  • Rails in the concrete floor or in emission free aluminium floor aluminium floor.
  • Working and packing tables with smooth or steel tops.
  • Special packing materials and acid free boxes.

Emission poor storage

Emission poor materials can be used for museum objects that contain wood themselves (furniture, wooden painting frames) and are therefore not completely emission free.

  • Special kinds of woods (emission poor) can be used when they are approved by museums.
  • Rails in formaldehyde free wood which are approved by museums.
  • Galvanized materials are allowed, but not preferred. Zinc white leaves black stains. Also the surface is not smooth. It should never be used for instance for storage of books because the covers wear out.
