University College Cork needed to equip their new humidity controlled vaults in the basement of the new Postgraduate Research Library.
The Solution
The mobile storage system was installed in a series of humidity controlled vaults in the basement of the new Postgraduate Research Library. 1,300 bays of Compactus® mobile shelving fitted with 6 shelf levels for book storage. All shelf levels are fitted with shelf backstops and all side frames include steel infill panels which totally enclosed uprights to prevent any gaps between shelf and frame.
To enhance operator safety all mobile bases are fitted with push button aisle locks to prevent aisle closing when an operator is present within the aisle. Furthermore all guide rails were installed in the concrete floor during the building construction stage to eliminate the need for ramps and timber false floors which would be required with surface mounted guide rails.
